I remember as a teenager always waking up in ambulances, paramedics overhead or a hospital. Just depended how long the seizure lasted. I always woke up to, "Janet, you've had another seizure." I didn't think anything of it. That's the way life was, I had seizures, no big deal.
Later I went on to marry and have seven beautiful children. We were buying a house in Ajo, Az. This one day I was having a particularly bad day and it was winter so my parents were in town. Daddy came to visit and told him of my woes. His replies have always been these profound stories that teach something. This day was no exception.
He told me that when I started with seizures at age 12, they told him and Mama to put me in the hospital and forget about me. Just leave her there and pay the bills, is what they were told. They were also told I would never have a family, kids, husband. Because I would never understand the meaning of it. He told the Dr., "We'll be taking our daughter home."
He said, "So when you have bad days and the kids don't mind or you can't keep up with housework, just remember that. You weren't even supposed to have all of those little miracles in your life. You're a miracle Janet"
I recently told one of my children that story. It's one of those memories shoved back there that came out. I told her, "Just remember, I wasn't supposed to have any of you. On your bad days remember what Grandpa said."
I have seven beautiful children, "The Seven Wonders". And eight beautiful Grand Children. They ARE ALL miracles.
My life is indeed a miracle. Thanks to my parents who loved me enough to take me home and take care of me. Thank you Mama and Daddy, I love you both so much.
